Paul LaViola

Paul LaViolaMr. LaViola is a Vice President and shareholder of RTD Financial Advisors, Inc. Prior to joining RTD in January 2007, Mr. LaViola was CEO of Financial Planning Solutions, Inc. a registered investment advisory firm he founded in 2005. Mr. LaViola formerly owned/operated FP Solutions, a consulting firm that worked with financial advisors to help streamline their operations. He began doing comprehensive financial planning during his tenure at GDM Advisory Group, Ltd., a financial planning firm located in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. Previously, Paul was the Financial Operations Principal of a small investment bank in San Diego, California.

Paul is a graduate of Saint Joseph’s University where he received his Masters of Science in Financial Services (MSFS) studying various aspects of portfolio management, securities analysis, personal finance and risk management. He also attended Widener University where he received a Masters of Science in Taxation (MST) studying various aspects of income taxation, taxation of investments, estates and trusts. Paul has earned the Certificate in Financial Planning from Widener University’s Graduate School of Business that was comprised of intense graduate level classes grounding him in the various foundations of financial planning. He is a CFP® (CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®) meeting the experience, educational requirements and passing the two-day 10-hour exam. Paul completed the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) program offered by the American College in Bryn Mawr to further his knowledge in financial planning strategies and foundations. In addition, Paul is a NAPFA Registered Advisor and subscribes to the stringent and mandatory annual educational hours, experience and code of ethics to meet the requirements. Fewer than 1,200 financial advisors in the country are NAPFA Registered Advisors.

Mr. LaViola has been quoted in Money Magazine, Kiplinger’s Magazine, Bloomberg News, Journal of Financial Planning, BusinessWeek Online, MSN Money, Financial Advisor Magazine, www.Bankrate.com Investment News and www.MorningstarAdvisor.com. He has provided background information for the Dow Jones News Wire, The Wall Street Journal, and Financial-Planning Magazine. Paul was selected by a survey of readers to be among the best Financial Planners in the Philadelphia area in 2009 by Philadelphia Magazine. Also, he has spoken at national industry conferences on financial planning and practice management topics for financial advisors. He is an associate editor for the Journal of Financial Service Professionals, one of the oldest and most prestigious journals in the financial planning field. He teaches adult education classes on Financial Planning at Delaware County Community College and has taught graduate level classes in the areas of investments and taxation at Widener University, in their Graduate School of Business. Previously, Mr. LaViola sat on the Board of Directors for the Philadelphia Tri-State Financial Planning Association where he served as Vice President of Education.

Mr. LaViola has helped guide hundreds of pre/post retirees to financial responsibility and freedom, including employees from GlaxoSmithKline, Advanta Corporation and Boeing. Mr. LaViola resides in Wallingford, PA with his wife Jennifer and their daughter Lucia. His family can often be found in and around the town of Media participating in the local town events. Paul is an active runner and cyclist and competes in various triathlons and races throughout the area.
